Alberta Diabetes Institute

The Alberta Diabetes Institute provides an environment where the discovery of molecular and clinical research is integrated into practical applications. Strong focus is set on the research areas risk and prevention, population health, secondary diseases, islet cell biology and physiology, immunology and cell therapy. Within the Alberta Diabetes Institute scientist join in interdisciplinary and collaborative approaches to take research discoveries towards general health care practice. Research translation is further ensured by their extended clinical research facilities providing the setting for regulatory-driven biomedical trials as well as nutrition, metabolic and physical activity studies.

Scientists from different faculties of the University of Alberta shape the Alberta Diabetes Institute with their multidisciplinary expertise to define the pathology of diabetes and to discover new treatments.
