Day 1 featured presentations on a wide range of topics, including the immunology of Type 1 diabetes, the epidemiology of Type 2 diabetes, and precision medicine for at-risk individuals. Notable speakers such as Prof. Carolin Daniel, Prof. Barbara Thorand, and Dr. Mauricio Berriel-Diaz shared their insights on subjects like the pathogenesis of Type 1 diabetes, the prediction of Type 2 diabetes, and the interconnected risks of diabetes and cancer.
On Day 2, attendees explored innovative approaches to diabetes treatment and research, with sessions on leptin re-sensitization for weight management, adipocyte hypertrophy and insulin sensitivity, and stem cell-derived islet optimization for cell therapy. Experts like Prof. Paul Pfluger, Dr. Isabelle Serr, and Prof. Matthias Hebrok discussed the latest breakthroughs in diabetes and obesity research.
The event also provided ample opportunities for networking and collaboration, particularly for our doctoral researchers.
