International collaborations with the Alberta Diabetes Institute in Canada, a pioneer in diabetes research, and clinical research units in Heidelberg and the two Munich Universities ensure innovative projects bridging basic and translational diabetes research. This interdisciplinary research community covering all important aspects from mechanisms, prevention and therapy of diabetes guarantees great networking chances for PhD students to foster their career. International conferences and a manifold yet individual designed training program offer highly motivated students supportive structures in achieving their personal and professional goals.
